Our client a market leader for over 150 years within the Food Production industry currently have an exciting new opportunity, to expand their team with the successful placement of a European Environmental & Hygiene Manager based within the Fochabers area of the Highland/Moray area.

The main purpose of this role is to manage the risks of the European division within the company of failure to comply with European legislations, providing advice to the ED on compliance on compliance with Environmental legislation.

Main duties (not limited to):

• Monitoring compliance with Pollution Prevention & control, and all other Environmental permits, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementation of preventive actions
• Implementation of energy saving projects
• Monitor projects which may have environmental implications
• Advise the senior management teams on any implications of emerging environmental legislation relevant to the European Division
• Lead continuous improvement projects
• Develop overall site cleaning risk assessment
• Be an active member of the HACCP team providing guidance as and when required

Essential Qualifications & Training:

• Intermediate HACCP & Intermediate Food Hygiene qualification
• Degree level qualification in a Food or related Science discipline
• Minimum 5 years experience within a Hygiene/Environmental Manager role of equivalent within a FMCG environment
• Lead Auditor training (not essential but advantageous)

Preferred Experience Required:

• Project Management
• Team Management
• Awareness of BRCGS or GFSI standards
• Previous experience in environmental awareness
• Awareness of ISO14001 is essential

The ideal candidate should:

• Have a strong background in Environmental Management Systems
• Be a logical thinking with a hands on approach
• Be experienced within a hygiene role within a FMCG environment
• Have a high level of competence in Root Cause Analysis
• Display excellent leadership and management skills
• Be a motivated individual, whilst being a proactive team player
• Have very high well developed communication skills, also within a customer facing role
